Hair transplant: what happens next?

To combat your baldness and stop a growing alopecia you had a hair transplant.

Whether you've opted for a hair transplant limited to small areas of the scalp to fill in a few sparse areas (such as the gulfs or the forehead border, for example) or for a massive implantation after shaving to cover a large part of the skull, you're back home after surgery and eagerly awaiting to see the final results.

Generally, this is what happens to your hair after the transplant:

  • Part of the implant falls out: 2 to 4 weeks after the operation
  • First visible results: after 3 months
  • Final results: between 4 and 6 months after the transplant.

If the operation has taken place in France, follow-up consultations are generally scheduled to assess the results.

Then you're on your own.

Well, not quite! The Centre Clauderer's Hair Specialists are at your side to optimise the results of your hair transplant from the very first days and help you preserve your hair capital for a long time to come.

In fact, Clauderer haircare products have gentle formulas that are particularly suitable for scalps sensitised by small or large-scale transplants. That's the first point.

Secondly, hair transplants obviously do not mean that baldness has stopped. Yes, the results of a transplant are definitive in the transplanted area, but what about other areas?

And if your scalp is prone to itching, dandruff or any other skin inflammation, that's not going to stop.

In post-operative treatments, Clauderer treatments will help you to :

  • restore balance to the scalp, which has been sensitised by surgical procedures
  • stimulate the survival of a greater number of grafts in the recipient area
  • protect your scalp from dandruff, itching and other consequences of dermatitis or psoriasis
  • protect your lengths, which you may have forgotten for a while (no colouring, no blow-drying or aggressive treatments for weeks)
  • slows hair loss on the entire scalp over the long term

Scalp care

Taking care of your scalp is essential after a hair transplant. Hair care products must meet certain conditions in order to stabilise the grafts and promote rapid healing:

  • Gentleness first and foremost
  • moisturise without aggression
  • purify without stripping

Healthy hair grows on a healthy scalp, whether it has been transplanted or not. By regularly applying a mild scalp lotion (Lait) to purify the scalp before shampooing, you're helping to preserve the microbiota of your scalp. This ensures your scalp is healthy, supple, clean and sufficiently moisturised without being too oily. Depending on the case, each Lait Clauderer responds to a specific problem. Scalp that's too oily and its camphor and sage extracts will help regulate excess sebum. Scalp that's too dry and verbena essential oil combined with jojoba oil will preserve the scalp's hydrolipidic film so it doesn't pull, preventing scalp pain that can be intolerable. An irritated scalp, itchy scalp, dry or oily dandruff? Then Clauderer has the solution too, with an ultra-gentle, ultra-effective formula to quickly get rid of these skin problems that "ruin your life".

Hair, like skin, deserves care and attention.

Once the scalp has been regenerated, the shampooing stage is not to be taken lightly. To continue to treat your scalp with kindness, there's no need to give it a vigorous massage, which is totally counterproductive (massages are banned after a transplant), in the belief that it will stimulate blood circulation. Shampoo is designed to gently cleanse the hair and scalp. It is often unnecessary to wash your hair 2 times, especially if you have short hair. Another common misconception is that the more it lathers, the more it washes. Not at all true. In fact, a quality shampoo rarely lathers very much. The difference lies in the type of surfactants used in the product. The more chemical and petrochemical-derived they are, the more the finished product will lather. At Clauderer, all our Emulsions have a 100 % plant-based cleansing base to suit the most sensitive skin and the most fragile hair. For hair that is too fine and flat, Emulsion N°18 adds volume and shine thanks to ginseng extracts. For hair that tends to re-grease too quickly, Emulsion N°17 absorbs excess sebum thanks to its illite clay formula, leaving hair light and clean. Frizzy hair will appreciate a creamy, nourishing texture to better hydrate curls that are often fragile and too dry. Crème N°25 and Crème N°26R meet the specific needs of Afro hair.

Hair growth

With a healthy scalp and radiant hair, all that remains is to stimulate hair regrowth. Not only is it important to ensure stable and vigorous regrowth in the transplanted area, but it would be a shame to focus solely on this part of the skull. If you want to present a harmonious image, it's essential to preserve the other areas for the long term and slow down the progression of baldness as much as possible. And, if you plan to draw on the initial donor area again one day, you need to think about strengthening it as much as possible so that subsequent grafts are as strong as the first, and always without aesthetic damage. No alcohol, no threshold effect or addiction, Clauderer anti-hair loss serums stimulate hair follicles to produce stronger, denser, longer-lasting hair. By ensuring the regrowth of healthier hair, serums also promote hair growth and delay hair loss: baldness is further away. It only takes a few months to see the results in terms of hair growth.

Regaining self-confidence after a hair transplant

Repairing hair

For several weeks, your hair has been lying fallow: you can't colour it, you can't pull it, straighten it or brush it vigorously. Why not take advantage of this break to do yourself some good? Appreciate your grey or white locks, go back to natural hair and be proud of it... You've regained your self-confidence and your head is no longer so bald. Choosing the right care products for your hair type is essential if you want to turn your hair into a real charm. One or two products, but the right ones, are enough to repair keratin deep down, day after day. Dyed, brittle, porous or fine hair, there is a Nourishing Cream (Crème nourrissante) or Treating Balm (Baume curatif) for all types of hair. For textured, often dehydrated hair, nourish it with a multi-active Baume Clauderer rather than saturating it with oils and other vegetal butters that suffocate the hair fibre. Now is the time to enhance your hair with the right care products to keep it looking more beautiful for a longer time.
